How do I book an appointment?

You can book appointments online back on the homepage, through the app called 'AMS Connect' or by telephoning us on 07 4959 1140.

Booking is quicker and easier using the AMS Connect app. Book, cancel and manage your appointments for the whole family, with a handy reminder on your phone.

Although we do always reserve some 'Same Day' appointments, these are only for urgent matters and are usually fully booked within the first half hour of each day.

We are unable to offer any emergency service. For emergencies please call '000'.
Please click here for additional after hours services.

Please note: As a practice we maintain zero tolerance for bad behaviour.  This is any behaviour which causes distress for either staff or other patients attending the practice. This includes any rudeness, anti-social, aggressive or abusive behaviour.

Common FAQ's

Bulk billing means you don’t have to pay for your medical service from a health professional. We bill Medicare instead and we accept the Medicare benefit as full payment for the service. You assign the benefit to us by pressing OK on the EFTPOS terminal after your appointment.

You must be enrolled in Medicare and meet the Bulk Billing criteria to be Bulk Billed.

If you have more than one service in a visit, you may not be bulk billed for everything. There will also be a charge if additional consumables are used (like extra dressings etc).

Bulk Billing does not cover surgical procedures.

Remember to check with us that your Medicare card number is up-to-date, or you may be charged.

If you are 10 minutes late or more for an appointment, it will be considered that you have missed it. There is a missed appointment charge that you will have to pay for.

If it is becoming a regular thing (3 or more times), we will also require a deposit prior to making any future appointment.

When a patient fails to show up for an appointment, or to cancel without good notice, a patient care opportunity is missed.

As a small rural practice, this also has a big impact, meaning that our doctor, nurse, staff and facilities may be left idle when they could be helping another patient also in need of medical care.

We understand that there are occasions when a patient must miss an appointment due to unforeseen circumstances or a scheduling conflict beyond their control. In this event, we ask that you call us on 07 4959 1140 to cancel the appointment as soon as possible . This courtesy allows us to schedule another patient who is also in need of medical care. You may reschedule an appointment online or using the app.

Late cancellations (less than 1 hour before) will also be treated as a missed appointment.

Yes we do, but not for everyone:
Children 11 years and younger
Pensioner Cards receiving Aged Pension
DVA Gold cards (& White for listed condition)
Government funded immunisations
Chronic Disease Management Plans also called Care Plans
Health Care Assessments
Please note there is no Bulk Billing or DVA for anyone on Weekends or before 8am weekdays and are charged at a higher rate. You can still book, but will have to pay.
Bulk Billing does not cover any medical or surgical procedures.

We do offer the Discounted Rates for anyone with a valid Health Care Card.

Pensioner Cards (not receiving an Aged Pension) receive a Discount Rate.
Pensioner cards for people also with an Aged Pension, are Bulk Billed.

A standard appointment is 10 minutes and is just for 1 or 2 things to discuss.

A long appointment is 20 minutes for 3 or 4 things to discuss.

If you haven't booked enough time, we can always book you in for another appointment.

We run an appointment system and ask that all patients book in advance. If you feel your matter requires longer please let our reception staff know when you book. Our doctors aim to keep to appointment times. However, some patients take longer than anticipated and we ask for your patience and understanding should you be affected by this. Cancellation fees apply for late or non-attendance.

When you book an appointment, as long as you let us know what the appointment is for, we will make sure we book the correct amount of time with the doctor and the nurse if needed.

Write a list of the things you want to see your doctor about.

Check your scripts before coming. Ask your pharmacist if you have any repeat scripts left when you get scripts filled, and ring for an appointment as you fill your last repeat. That way you won’t run out of medication before your next appointment.

Hand the list of your health concerns and any scripts or referrals you need to your doctor at the start of the consultation.

Please be aware it is not always possible to attend to everything in one consultation, and you may need to make another appointment/s to properly attend to everything

As a practice we maintain zero tolerance for bad behaviour which causes distress for either staff or other patients attending the practice.  This includes any rudeness, anti-social, aggressive, abusive or threatening behaviour.

Gaps in pricing

Medicare rebate gap.

Why is there a gap?

This year Medicare increased the benefit by about 3.5% but the annual Average Weekly Earnings & Consumer Price Index (ie cost of running the Medical Centre) increased by 6.2%.

The yellow line shows the real costs to run a Medical Centre, and how these have increased each year.  The orange line shows how little Medicare has increased their amounts each year. The space between the two lines is the shortfall from what Medicare pay and the real costs.

This is why your Medicare rebate is worth less every year and your healthcare costs have to keep increasing.
